Saathi: Fergusson College’s Initiative for an Inclusive and Enriching College Experience
Saathi, led by students and teacher coordinators at Fergusson College, fosters inclusivity by providing academic assistance and enriching experiences for students with disabilities. Beyond academics, Saathi organizes events like trips and cultural programs, ensuring students enjoy a holistic college life. For visually impaired students like Samarth Chaugule, Saathi is a vital support system, offering help with assignments and exams. Volunteers also benefit, finding inspiration in the dedication of those they assist. Saathi exemplifies a student-driven, inclusive community where everyone learns and grows together.
Vote Hundred Percent
Students of DES's New English Medium School, Pune came together on Friday around a vibrant rangoli advocating vote Hundred Percent adorned with ink-stained fingers, rallying Puneites to cast their ballots for a brighter tomorrow. In collaboration with Ganesh Mandal, they passionately urged citizens to exercise their democratic right.
Commemorative Event for Martyr's at Shri Kantilal Purushottamdas Shah High School
On 23rd March -Kantilal Shah High School organized a program on the occasion of Shaheed Diwas honoring sacrifices of the martyrs. Educational officer Mr. Rajesahab Londhe guided students, and remembered the martyrs' contributions to our country. Students sang songs dedicated to the martyrs .The Chairperson of the programme Mr. Ramakrishna Patwardhan emphasized on patriotism and education. CSR Proposal Writing Workshop for Teachers
14 February 2026 : A CSR Proposal Writing Workshop was organized by Deccan Education Society at IMDR with the objective of guiding its constituent institutions in preparing effective Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) proposals.
The workshop was inaugurated by Council Member Mr. Milind Kamble. Dr. Shweta Bapat conducted an expert session covering essential documentation, proposal structure, and key expectations of corporate donors. Participating institutions also presented draft proposals and received constructive feedback to improve their effectiveness.The valedictory session was graced by Mr. Pramod Rawat, Chairman, Council & Regulatory Board, and Dr. Anand Katikar, Secretary of Deccan Education Society, who emphasized the importance of CSR initiatives in strengthening educational development. Padma Shri Awardee Ms. Sunita Godbole Felicitated at Ahilyadevi High School for Girls
9th February 2026 : Ms. Sunita Godbole, an esteemed alumna of D.E.S.’s Ahilyadevi High School for Girls and recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award, was felicitated at her alma mater in a grand ceremony. She was warmly welcomed by the school choir and greeted with enthusiastic applause from the students. In her introductory remarks, Ms. Sunita Puranik described her as a symbol of selfless and impartial service. Ms. Godbole began her social work journey in the Naxal-affected region of Bastar (Dantewada), where she and her husband worked closely with tribal communities, contributing significantly to education, healthcare, and social development. Release of “Dnyanashilpa” – A Tribute to 125 Years of Excellence of D.E.S's New English School, Satara
8th February : The Post-Centenary Silver Jubilee Year of Deccan Education Society, Pune’s New English School, Satara was recently celebrated.
On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee Year, the commemorative book “Dnyanashilpa,” which reviews the 125-year journey of the school, was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Honorable Shrimant Shahu Maharaj Chhatrapati, President of Deccan Education Society and Member of Parliament from Kolhapur.
On this occasion, Trustee and Council Member Mr. Anant Joshi presided over the function. School Committee Chairman Mr. Amit Kulkarni, Committee Members Mr. Sarang Kolhapure and Mr. Nitin Pore, Headmaster Mr. Pandurang Mohite, Assistant Headmaster Mr. Dattatray Khomne, Former Headmistress Mrs. Sujata Patil, Supervisors Mrs. Anita Kadam, Mr. Srinivas Kalyankar, Mr. Ghanshyam Navale, and Teachers’ Representative Mr. Sudhakar Gurav, along with other dignitaries, were present. Inauguration of School of Education at DESPU
19th January 2026 : The School of Education at DES Pune University was formally inaugurated on 19 January at Fergusson College, Pune, in the august presence of Shri Bhaiyyaji Joshi, Member, Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
In his address, Shri Bhaiyyaji Joshi emphasized that while education today has created an information-rich society, the absence of knowledge-centric and holistic education has limited the process of shaping complete human beings. He called for a re-evaluation of education at all levels, with a focus on balanced, integrated learning that nurtures both intellect and character.
The inauguration marked an important milestone in DES Pune University’s commitment to nation-building through teacher education, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP). The School of Education aims to prepare reflective, socially responsible, and future-ready teachers, supported by innovative initiatives such as the proposed Samyak Centre for social engagement and teacher development.
